Always beside the road
A vague destination in mind
Matt carries all his belongings
In a garbage can
Cars passing by
Traffic is sometimes heavy
Matt never leaves the main road
Does he follow a plan?

     Isn’t there anyone missing you?
     Where is your family?
     Do you run away? Where do you head for?
          Straight to the sea
          Trying to feel free

People want to help
Give him clothes and food
Matt needs another garbage can
To carry it all
The nights are always long
A plastic bag covers his body
Matt tries to sleep
With the help of alcohol
     What happened to you?
     Do you remember your past?
     Is this a period or will it last?
     Many weeks on the road
     Lonely in the crowd.
     Are you lost or a fantast?
          Straight to the sea
          Trying to feel fre

He belongs to our town
Even though Matt does not know it
He carries the despair
of us all

Matt lurches between fighting
Or letting all go.
     How long will you put up with it?

     Will you ever share them with anyone?
     Will you ever again feel love?
     Will you ever feel happiness?
